Adult Work has cams, a feature that so many of their users overlook that I deemed it worthy of a full writeup here at ThePornDude. It’s one of those things that can easily get lost in the shuffle when you consider the full scope of the vision. AdultWork was designed to facilitate smooth transactions between adult service providers and their clients, so most folks immediately think of escorts, erotic masseuses and dominatrixes in scary boots. Perhaps that’s a question too deep for a pornography scholar like myself, and it might be better answered by philosophers, LSD burnouts and holy men. There are certain things I do understand quite well, though, including what makes for a good cam site. With that in mind I loaded up AdultWork.com and clicked the Webcam button in the header. They’ve got an atypical setup for a cam site, which may have something to do with their age. That internet maturity may have something to do with the traffic here, too, which is typically over a ten million visits per month. Camming is Adult Work

If you’re into camgirls, the very first thing you’re going to notice is that Adult Work doesn’t look like LiveJasmin, Chaturbate, or any of the copycats, imitators and wannabes. It looks more like an escort site, probably because it really is a cam site built into an escort site. Instead of the usual wall of thumbnails, there are tiny thumbnails attached to surprisingly big blocks of text interspersed with emojis. If you’re familiar with the more old-school escort sites, you’ll recognize these type of promo blurbs immediately.

AdultWork is an old site and looks the part. That doesn’t really help their case when it comes to webcams, because it ain’t half as intuitive as the more popular cam sites. For one thing, the Featured models out front ain’t even necessarily online now. Online status is typically one of the main things anybody wants in a cam site or a cam girl, so it’s a weird decision on their part. On the other hand, it does work with the overall scheme of the site. Most AdultWork.com transactions involve a little back and forth about scheduling before anything happens. You could schedule a cam show just as you could schedule a massage or a phone sex call.

If you’re not looking to set up something private for later but don’t necessarily want something now, you can click the Scheduled Shows tab to see what’s coming up. I’m not sure how often camgirls are scheduling times on AdultWork, because I’m looking right now and there’s only one upcoming show on the marquee. Personally, though, I want the instant gratification. If you’re a similarly present-minded pervert, you’ll want to click the Online Now button to pull up the roster of performers currently doing their thing. The site still gives you an outdated thumbnail view, but at least it's a bit closer to the presentation you find on a more modern cam site. I really wish the thumbnails were bigger, though. Zooming in the page just makes the pixels bigger, so ¬you’ll still want to click through to those profiles and check out some full-sized shots before you pay for a call.

Given the fact that AdultWork.com ain’t exactly known for its webcam entertainment, I didn’t expect to find that many live girls during my visit. That’s why I was surprised by how many actually were online. You’re probably going to have hundreds of camgirls to choose from at any given moment, which is one of the main things I look for in a cam site. Things started to look up once I saw how nice the selection was.

It's a nice fucking mix of cam performers, too. Right now, as I type this up, there are a dozen dudes, 27 couples, 62 trannies, and 628 women doing their thing. I’ve got another one for you that you ain’t going to like. AdultWork does have some free cam shows, but not as many as most cam sites. It’s common elsewhere for models to start their shows as public freebies before moving to private or paid group shows. Here, it seems like most of the camgirls don’t do freebies. To stick it to the bums even further, they have live thumbnails available, but you can’t see them unless you’re logged in and have some credits in your account. Oh, and on top of that, many models set their preferences to block everything from unregistered visitors.

If you’re a cheapskate, or just like to try before you buy, click the dropdown menu that says Current Mode and select Free Preview. Fewer than a third of the models online on Adult Work were offering them, but that still added up to nearly two hundred women to choose from, so I wasn’t too upset. That should still be enough free action, with enough variation, to keep me occupied for a while.

My usual advice for cam fans looking for some free entertainment is to find the most crowded public shows on any cam site. Unfortunately, I have no idea how the live camgirls are sorted, nor is there any way to reshuffle the selection by popularity. I ended up clicking kind of randomly on any of the really hot girls. Since I hadn’t logged in, I got denied the first few times.
